The things I love in painting streets and cityscapes is the action: being amongst it and trying to capture it: the people; the traffic; the architecture; the streets furniture; the noise; the smells and the light. India, and in particular Varanasi, offers all this in a concentrate. It is intense. I never feel more alive than when painting India.
