During the years 1854 - 1857 Hermann & his brothers Robert & Adolphe
were commissioned by the directors of the East India Company to undertake
a scientific mission to India & High Asia. In 1857, the year Adolphe died,
they published an atlas of panoramas & views of India & High Asia.
A further publication of four volumes of the work undertaken during this mission
was published in London & Leipzig in 1861.
